They can sense weakness.

The Girl Scouts have infiltrated my neighborhood with their delicious cookies. I had to make a quick run for olive oil and onions this afternoon and there they were right by the entrance of Safeway, the little doe-eyed entrepreneurs. I smiled as I breezed past them with my basket, determined not to lose focus. I only had ten bucks on me and I was not going to spend them on cookies.

Needless to say. I bought my olive oil and onions, visited the ATM, and purchased five boxes of thin mints on my way out.
